I was the Disscustion Director. My question was.... Why do you think Marshal loves Security so much? I would of responded by saying "Marshal loves Security so much because Security makes Marshal feel safe from things that are scary to him, and mabey Security was Marshal's first stuffed animal and he has grown very atached to him. Or mabey it's his age I would know that because when I was little like him I would always carry my baby blanket around the house."
I was literary lumanary and what interested me most was when Toby and Ken sneak up on the egypt gang on halloween night , it left me wanting to read more and more because the figures were anonymous and we had to put the pieces together to understand it.I picked that event because it was suspenseful and it was somewhat spooky because it was halloween night.
My role for the group was text connector. The connection I made was text-to-world,"In The Egypt Game the kids didn't have a lot of money. They weren't poor but they didn't have the money to buy things.It reminds me of poverty in the world today." The question I asked was,"Do you know anyone with poverty/ money problems? If so, how does it make you feel?" I thought this connection was appropriate because of the poor economy today.
As Artful Artist, I drew an alligator which represents Egypt. It had a large mouth that had a planet earth going into it. It shows how the Egypt game is consuming the lives of Marshall, Melanie, Elizabeth, April, Toby, and Ken. It also represents a qustion we all have: How is the Egypt Game affecting the lives of these kids? I think that it is taking over their lives in a good way. They are using their brains in a way that they enjoy. But can playing in a storageyard of a suspected murderer pose a risk?
My role is artful artist. April Elizabeth Marshall and Malanie were in a group for trick-or-treating lead by an adult because of a killer on the loose and the egypt gang (April Malanie Elizabeth and Marshall) were going to sneak away to egypt (the place that they usually went after school and played an imaginary game) to check on things because since the killer was on the loose. Their parents didnt want them to go outside alone.
What do you think the profeser has to do with the plot? I thought that maybe he is telling other people about the Egypt game or is secrectly keeping thought or writing down what they are doing.

I thought Laura's comment and question were very appropriate for the book egypt game.The picture that she described was something new that I learned. I agree that the game is consuming their lives in a good way because it is teaching them about egypt and history.
im text to world.the thing that interested me about the egypt game was leading up to a murderer.out of anyone to blame everyone blames the professor.it had to take saving marshall and april and with marshalls talking to prove his innocents.marshall was the one who proved the professor was innocent.he investigated without relaizing it.in my opinion it must have bin some real detective work to find out who bad and who was good.explain what you think marshall did to find out the proffesor was good.
Megan, while I agree that these kids don t have a lot of money, its not poverty. They have a roof and food and thats good for anyone. But answering your question, I know a of a lot of people with similar problems. I know that tons of people are on food stamps, unemployment or welfare. Are the Egypt kids benifiting from that?
I agree with laura , the egypt game is effecting their lives in a good way and I think they should find a new location that is safer and more secure because the professer is a suspect and is not safe to be around and if he sees the egypt game in his yard things may take a nasty turn for the worst

Haley, I agree because I think that book is interesting and that part made me keep wanting to read the rest of the book. Anywhere something supernatural and strange can happen.
The supernatural thing on pg 148 i think was not very grabing because for one that was only part of the page and even the chapter.personaly i don`t think it was planed right because for one it happend later like two chapters later.

I also thought that Toby was trying to lure Marshall into a trap, to continue the excitement in the Egypt Game. And I thought that the Amcient Egyptian Magic that the Egypt gang was "pretending" to use was starting actually work wonders.
What did you guys think would happen when the murderer grabbed April? If the Proffessor hadn't yelled for help, what do you think would have happened to her?
I would have never believed those boys pathetic bluff. They never would have finked. Then they'd be total tattle tales and nobody likes that. But they would have each other. And who knows? I guess the Egypt game was too precious to April, Melanie, Marshall, and Elisabeth to have that common sense. I guess it ended up okay anyway. Do you think it was worth it?
In response to Jeff G. I would have been very cautious about what we did in the Egypt Game. Because after all it was kind of like a secret society. So I would have let them in after they had promised they wouldn't tell a soul. But even if they were allowed in the Egypt Game, I still wouldn't trust them fully.

I agree with you Jason R. about how April's hair.Her hair looked like a dead animal on her head and it also looked very tacky.The only way I think she could have fixed her hair is by taking out all the paperclips and laying her hair down.
Alex J. I think April was just acting like a big-shot because it was probably the only thing she could do to make friends because maybe she is not very good at making friends. I think april should act more like Melanie.
Responding to Alexa B: I think the reason Toby and Ken found Egypt was because the were so beheind in the trick-or-treating too. They might have seen the children slip away and were curios as to where they were going. Also Toby seemed so fasinated once he joined so he might have been curios about their costumes.
Shelbie, i disagree with what you said because i think that April & Melanie should atleast let Toby & Ken join the egypt game for a few days & if they were still acting mean to April & Melanie, April & Melanie could kick them out of the Egypt Game.
Shelbie here`s the costume I would wear if I were an Egyptian. I would dress like the way April is dressed on the front cover. I would dress like this because it shows highness royalty and power. Shelbie have you ever been in a club where you had to dress in a specific way? If not what would you want everyone in your club to wear if you started one? I`ve read a book about a girl who wants to be in club called the Pinks. All they wear is pink clothes.
I agree with you Aundrea S. because everyone needs something to handle when they're scared. Marshall must always be scared because he carries Security everywhere and won't take off. Since there happend to be a murder, there is no way he'll take it off now.

Hey krista, I have been in a club before, but I didn't have to do any thing to get into it. we did Share intrests, like we had fun contests! but the sad part was it only lasted 1 DAY!
Responding to Virjohn B: I disagree with you because so far i've read the no one else knows about Egypt EXCEPT the four original egyptians & Ken and Toby so i don't think anyone else will be there to ruin the game unless someone else finds out about Egypt.
Responding to Matt K: I think the girls thought the professer was innocent because April did. April thought he didn't commit the murder because he didn't seem like that kind of person when she talked to him at the shop. I do think he's pretty creepy though.
Colin my reply to what you said back to Alex J about April is that I agree with you. April probably doesn`t know how to act in any other way. Then when Melanie came along she changed April and overtime she completely dropped the whole Hollywood big shot act. Do you think at the beginning of the book April was self-absorbed. Why? Do you know anyone that is self-absorbed or acts like April.
No I do not think April should have acted like a Hollywood big-shot when she first met her friend because nobody wants to be friends with a Know-it-all. They brag about themselves and their life.
In Respond to Matt K: I think it was good to let Elizabeth join the Egypt Game. I think this because Elizabeth contributes a lot of ideas to the Egypt game & helps out a lot.
Sam, I think the professor has a lot to do with the story. He watches the kids out his window and doesnt stop them. Also, when the plot gets really interesting there is only one one thing unexplaned so far, and I'm not excuding the professor yet...

ReplyDeleteResponding to Alexa B: I think the reason Toby and Ken found Egypt was because the were so beheind in the trick-or-treating too. They might have seen the children slip away and were curios as to where they were going. Also Toby seemed so fasinated once he joined so he might have been curios about their costumes.

ReplyDeleteShelbie, i disagree with what you said because i think that April & Melanie should atleast let Toby & Ken join the egypt game for a few days & if they were still acting mean to April & Melanie, April & Melanie could kick them out of the Egypt Game.
ReplyDeleteShelbie here`s the costume I would wear if I were an Egyptian. I would dress like the way April is dressed on the front cover. I would dress like this because it shows highness royalty and power. Shelbie have you ever been in a club where you had to dress in a specific way? If not what would you want everyone in your club to wear if you started one? I`ve read a book about a girl who wants to be in club called the Pinks. All they wear is pink clothes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Aundrea S. because everyone needs something to handle when they're scared. Marshall must always be scared because he carries Security everywhere and won't take off. Since there happend to be a murder, there is no way he'll take it off now.
ReplyDeleteMy role was the dicussion director and the question i wrote for my group was "what do you think will happen when the Egypt group goes back to the Egypt Game". and MY answer was, i think that the egypt gang will find that there are other peple there and that the egypt game will be all messed up...

ReplyDeleteMy role was wordsmith.One word I chose was temple.This can relate to the story because Melanie and April were working on there temple and building it up.The real definition for temple was a holy buillding or similiar to a church. Were their any words in the story that you didnt undestand if so what were they?

ReplyDeleteResponding to Matt K: I think the girls thought the professer was innocent because April did. April thought he didn't commit the murder because he didn't seem like that kind of person when she talked to him at the shop. I do think he's pretty creepy though.
ReplyDeleteif I was the professer and i found out that other people are trespassing on my yard i would get kind of mad BECAUSE they didnt ask my permission.

Then when Melanie came along she changed April and overtime she completely dropped the whole Hollywood big shot act. Do you think at the beginning of the book April was self-absorbed. Why? Do you know anyone that is self-absorbed or acts like April.

ReplyDeleteSam, I think the professor has a lot to do with the story. He watches the kids out his window and doesnt stop them. Also, when the plot gets really interesting there is only one one thing unexplaned so far, and I'm not excuding the professor yet...
